Breeders Cup Warmup: the 1989 Classic

The best rivalry horse racing has had since Affirmed-Alydar is, by far, Easy Goer and Sunday Silence in 1989. Sunday Silence won the Derby over a fast closing Easy Goer; the two horses dueled in the Preakness with Sunday Silence winning the Race of the Decade by a nose, and Easy Goer romped in the Belmont to foil Sunday Silence's bid for the Triple Crown. Their fourth meeting came in the Breeders Cup Classic.
